WHAT IS THIS CLASS ACTION ABOUT?
On June 22, 2020, an Application for authorization to institute a class action was filed into the court record at the Superior Court of Québec against Google LLC, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., for having breached its legal and statutory obligations by making false and misleading representations to the class members about them being in control of the navigation data they share with Google when they browse the Web in the "private browsing mode".
WHO IS A CLASS MEMBER?
Any person domiciled in Quebec who has browsed the Web in private browsing mode on a website using one of the advertising or analysis services offered by Google such as Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager or the "Sign in with Google" login button.
WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THIS CLASS ACTION?
The class action is currently at the authorization stage.
